QUOTE OF THE DAY: ADELE

“I couldn’t believe Jay-Z knew my name. I fell to my knees crying.” [UK songstress Adele’s response upon hearing rapper Jay-Z  was a fan.] Yeah alright Adele calm down luv. Shaun Carter aka Jay-Z  is a former waste man from Marcy projects, Brooklyn NY who got lucky due to sudden tragic events in Hip Hop that shook the genre to it’s core, above average lyrical ability, top class producers and a strong team behind him. He is not The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit.

UK MUSIC: DOT ROTTON – NORMAL HUMAN BEING

The name ‘Dot Rotton’ always makes me chuckle.  Anyway Normal Human Being is the new single from rapper Dot Cotton. Dot is a decent lyricist but he is in serious need of heavier and more polished production. The production on this track just sounds weak and empty. Sadly a lack of decent production still continues to let some generally talented UK acts down. Your thoughts please. Hit or Miss?

UK MUSIC: GIGGS – MONSTA MAN

Check out rapper Giggs’ new single Monsta Man. Giggs wants us to know that he is the monster and he has a big lobster. If you don’t believe me then listen for yourselves. Your thoughts please. Hit or Miss?

UK MUSIC: MR MITCHELL – OFF THE COATHANGER

London rapper MR Mitchell releases the music video for his first solo track ‘Off The Coathanger’, since parting ways from the duo, The Mitchell Brothers. This track is taken from his forthcoming EP ‘Irregular Beats and Art Attacks’, scheduled to be released this summer. When I first watched the opening of the video I thought Off The Coathanger was going to be a slow, depressing and dull typical UK Hip Hop track, but it’s uptempo. Off The Coathanger has that old skool []

UK MUSIC: AYO AKA MC DARK-E (FROM C4 SHOW THE FAMILY) – MISS EDUCATION

Those of you who tuned in to the Channel 4 documentary series The Family will no doubt remember self-employed web designer Ayo Adesina aka MC Dark-E who dreamed of Hip Hop stardom, and sat in his bedroom making beats and writing rhymes. Well Mr “I’m young and I’m black surrounded by crack” is still pursuing his dream of Hip Hop superstardom, and his debut single Miss Education will be released on the 16 May. The track could be worse. Your thoughts please. Hit or Miss?

UK MUSIC: DELE – ‘F U RIGHT’

F U Right is taken from East-Londoner Dele’s EP Coming To Age.  The track is steamy and seductive and gives us an insight in to what the 23-year-old singer is prepared to do to his girlfriend. Dele sounds a bit like R Kelly. This is the kind of track that Kelly would have released perhaps in the early noughties. I can really hear him singing this. But I really like this track and Dele is easy on the eye. Yep it definitely []

UK MUSIC: MR MITCHELL – OFF THE COATHANGER TRAILER

Introducing MR Mitchell, Tony Mitchell, one half of the former duo The Mitchell Brothers, who were the very first act to be signed to the well renowned artist and producer Mike Skinner’s label, The Beats. “Where’s Teddy? What happened to The Mitchell Brothers?” you may ask…..all shall be revealed soon. After a three-year hiatus a new era has arrived. Tony is back with a brand new attitude and a contagious style that will capture the ears and eyes of old and []

UK MUSIC: AKS HOUSE CALLED HOME / THE BUS STOP EP OUT NOW / LAUNCH PARTY

Taken from his debut EP, The Bus Stop, emerging South London emcee AKS brings us the brilliant House Called Home. The track kicks off with an exert from Enoch Powell’s politically controversial “Rivers of Blood” speech, the Chemo-produced track explores AKS’ take on attitudes towards immigration, his identity as a British-Born African and a sense of belonging. I’ am loving this track. I’ve been following fellow South Londoner AKS’ career for a number of years now and AKS is one of the []
