QUOTE OF THE DAY: ADELE

“I couldn’t believe Jay-Z knew my name. I fell to my knees crying.”

[UK songstress Adele’s response upon hearing rapper Jay-Z  was a fan.]

Yeah alright Adele calm down luv. Shaun Carter aka Jay-Z  is a former waste man from Marcy projects, Brooklyn NY who got lucky due to sudden tragic events in Hip Hop that shook the genre to it’s core, above average lyrical ability, top class producers and a strong team behind him. He is not The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit.

  1. Adele needs to get a grip, a severe grip on that arm chair she had the nerve to siddown in during the WHOLE of the ‘Rolling in the Deep’ video.

  2. When she got to #1 with Someone Like You I was listening live and they called her live from NYC. She started crying upon hearing she got to number 1, then said she had to go and call her ex.

I had one of those serious PAUSE combined with a dash of WTF moments.

I hope it wasn’t the ex she was singing about, because I don’t think his wife would be too happy.

  3. How good that somebody has alluded to the murders of Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur as being the reason Ol’ Camel Face is big “bout the place. That and the old “crossing over” by marrying Beyawnce, the second coming of Aretha Franklin, NOT! I don’t even have to spell out the mediocrity and shortness of attention span that seems to be the status quo when it comes to “black” music, nowadays.

  4. The music business hate me
Cause the industry ain’t make me
    Hustlers and boosters embrace me
And the music i be makin
I dumb down for my audience
    And double my dollars
    They criticize me for it
    Yet they all yell “Holla”
    If skills sold
    Truth be told
    I’d probably be
    Lyricly
    Talib Kweli
    Truthfully
I wanna rhyme like Common Sense
    (But i did five Mil)
I ain’t been rhymin like Common since
When your sense got that much in common
    And you been hustlin since
    Your inception
    Fuck perception
    Go with what makes sense
    Since
I know what i’m up against
We as rappers must decide what’s most impor-tant
And i can’t help the poor if i’m one of them
So i got rich and gave back
To me that’s the win, win
The next time you see the homie and his rims spin
Just know my mind is workin just like them
    (The rims that is)

The same man who wrote those lyrics. i don’t know what to make of those lyrics and the message in them. i don’t understand how someone could deliberately go out of their way to dumb down their work. Why is it that people can’t make money off good music nowadays, or even have good music in mainstream media? Everybody wins, i mean the really talented folks who have a better message to spread. We must really be that stupid to buy into all this again and again.

  5. So tired of some artists glorifying bad circumstances. Yes, going to jail is no fun and it really sucks, ok you had a hard time and did drugs and what not, stabbed a few people to protect yourself from whatever, had a bad upbringing due to family problems and all, but please don’t glorify it, because it really sucks to live that kind of life and it can make or break you. How it makes you is one thing, but it is no fancy life and certainly is not cool. Teach me what it has taught you. Don’t see me in a purgotary and then tell me that the only way out of purgotary is if i go and rob fellow folks in purgotary and stay in there. Hell purgatory sucks. Maybe i am even better off in hell because my fate is then decided and is for sure. It is no wonder we have folks coming out of jail and throwing parties and all, glorifying guns and gangs. Mainstream music most of the times really is mind numbing.

  6. How did it go from Adele/Jay-Z to BIG & Pac? I’m reading some of these comments hella confused thinking what point do they have to the article and furthermore how in the hell did it go so off tangent, so quickly?

I honestly had to read Janice’s post again, then the comments (in order) to see if I missed something.

    So random.

  7. I don’t understand why he is not the father, the son and the holy spirit when he has all these successful people like Rihanna, Beyonce, Kanye West with him. He seems to the face of successful hip hop as far as i can see, he has done all these great things for charity, he has the skill. Mind you i don’t really know the history of hip hop that much and what went down. All i see is one very popular man who is considered a success, and it is no wonder Adele is overwhelmed at being known by him. It is a big deal having that connection as far as i can see. Or am i missing something?

  8. I am not a musical genius, but i well know that money in music is not entirely what is considered success. Successful music is music i will listen to come twenty years time, it is music that all gnerations can easily appreciate and adapt to and learn from and pick up and use for the right reasons. There are so many artists that have managed to be successful artistically and charity wise. Now, that makes alot of sense. Quite frankly i don’t understand why Jay Z and many of those talented artists have to produce bad work to earn money when most of these genres succeeded because they were top quality or else we would not be having these so called genres to imitate. I appreciate that he is giving back to the poor, but that is no excuse for poor quality work and destroying a culture i am sure he well knows the background and history of. It is such a beautiful culture that could easily flouish if used properly. With all this poor quality work that is put out there, how is the culture going to survive. But anyway, i take great comfort in knowing that there are people out there who are keeping it going and hopefully most of the ‘black’ culture will survive somehow in the midst of this madness.

    Yours faithfully,
    disgruntled fan 😦

  9. Well i just think Adele needs to calm down! And get a grip!!! He is only a man..what the biggy!!! People tend to give others too much props. Yes he has done some good things for our community. But ok!!! We don’t really know what kind of man he really is. Now i’m not saying he is a bad dude…. but i could care less because i don’t know him personally. He is what he is and he do what he do… So he can be rich and popular….

  10. This is ridiculous. She is allowed to be overwhelmed by Jay Z liking her music. She might b e a big fan and her dream might have just come true. Jesus crist.
