The founder/CEO of seminal Hip Hop label Sugar Hill Records has died of congestive heart failure. Sylvia Robinson founded the label in the 1970s and formed the group The Sugarhill Gang who later went on to release the first commercially successful Hip Hop single Rappers Delight in 1979. She also was the visionary and guiding force behind Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five’s most successful single The Message. Sylvia was 75 years old. ______ ______ Rest In Peace Sylvia Robinson.

Digital Spy reports that heiress/socialite Paris Hilton gave money to the poor in India during a three-day tour of the country which involved promoting her handbag collection and opening a new department store. Hilton apparently gave $100 (£64) to a woman who was standing on the side of the road with her two children, reports IBN, and ‘continued to donate money to other needy Indians throughout the day’. Tennis champion Serena Williams has been appointed Goodwill Ambassador for the children’s charity UNICEF. Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder and Jay-Z’s former and rather loud right-hand man Damon Dash is in trouble with the law. The Village Voice reports that the once feared Hip Hop mogul has been accused of six counts of storing and selling alcoholic beverages without a license, as detailed in court documents obtained by the Voice. UK R&B artist Dele is back with his new single Feel It, taken from the forthcoming mixtape Portraits Of Me. …. Feel It sounds like something Usher would release. I like Dele, he can sing but like Usher he should stick to making R&B records. Stay away from going down the annoying Dance music route that most of these R&B/Hip Hop acts seem to be going down these days. Your thoughts please. Hit or Miss?

According to the Hollywood Reporter video director Hype Williams is going to be working on his first feature film since 1998’s Belly, which starred rapper DMX, Nas and TLC star T-Boz. The acting was terrible and the film was shot like a music video. Hype should have also kept Jamaica out of that mess.
