Riley Can Be Anything is the debut children’s book from Davina Hamilton.
The inspiring rhyming story follows Riley as he discovers some of the wonderful
things he can do when he grows up. With the help of his big cousin Joe, Riley is
taken on a series of imaginative journeys that allow him to realise he can be anything
he wants to be.
The book is targeted towards all pre-school children, but also seeks to address the conversation about the need for positive imagery for black children. For the author, Davina Hamilton, the ongoing reports about the underachievement of black boys in schools, coupled with her personal desire for her children to see book characters that reflect their image, drove her to create a book with a young black boy as the main character.
Complete with illustrations by Elena Reinoso, Riley Can Be Anything is
an uplifting and encouraging story for young children. The book will be released in
paperback and in digital format, and is available via a host of international retailers,
including Amazon, Waterstones, Barnes & Noble and Kobo.
Davina Hamilton is a writer with 15 years of journalism experience. The
