Well.. well… well… what has brought this on Hollyoaks casting team and producers?
To my knowledge the last time Hollyoaks cast a black actress was back in 1995 when the drama first aired.
Anyway….
Former Eastenders: E20 star Modupe Adeyeye will play Blessing Chambers, a glass collector in the strip club she lives above and we will quickly learn that Blessing has not had the easiest ride up to now.
I look forward to seeing what story lines the script writers have in store for this character. The story lines better be good and guarantee longevity, because we all know what generally tends to happen when black characters are introduced.
After about three months the story lines begin to fade and before you know it its announced on the Digital Spy website that the character is to be written out of the show.

This better be better than the Vincent fleeing from persecution in Nigeria, and hooking up with whatisface and the homeless chick
From what I remember she was actually pretty decent on e20, defiantly better than some of the previous ‘talent’ that have stared on Hollyoaks.
The thing is Hollyoaks writers just do not know how to write black characters so it should be interesting to see how she is treated on the show. I’d be surprised if she was still on the show this time next year but I hope I’m wrong.
