It has been reported that former Choice FM presenter Kirk Anthony has died in Lagos, Nigeria.
Earlier today radio station Smooth 98.1FM posted the following messages:
Anthony was born in Jamaica, and known to many radio listeners for his distinguished baritone voice. His radio career spanned over 25 years and he was there at the birth of Choice FM, Britain’s first independently black owned radio station with a licence back in March 1990 .
In 2006 Choice FM appointed Anthony its new head of music, giving him responsibility for the station’s overall music programming. But in 2009 Anthony said goodbye to the UK and re-located to Lagos. He later went on to host his own show on Smooth 98.1 FM.
Anthony reportedly collapsed and then later died after hosting his show on Friday.
I used to listen to Kirk’s Quiet Storm show on Choice back in the day. This is so sad.
Rest In Peace Kirk Anthony.
