The idea of Ben Affleck living on $1.50 a day sounds ridiculous, right? Maybe just as ridiculous as Hugh Jackman doing the same thing.
The “Argo” director-producer-star is the latest celebrity showing his support for the Global Poverty Project’s Live Below the Line campaign, a position Jackman initiated for the organization in 2011.
The Oscar winner took on the organization’s challenge to spend five days feeding himself on only $1.50 a day, which is the the U.S. equivalent of the extreme poverty line. He showed his support for the initiative on Twitter. Continue Reading….
How is this 5 day challenge going to benefit the lives of the millions living in poverty across the world?
During those 5 day’s will the housekeepers of these muti-millionaire celebrities go out and buy the food and will their personal chefs then prepare their meals?
After 5 days they will pat themselves on the back (a job well done) and go back to stuffing their faces with the finest foods. Those living in poverty don’t have this luxury.
If each celebrity announced that he/she was going to ‘Live Below the Line’ in a developing world nation among the poverty stricken for a year I might have taken this campaign/challenge seriously.
