A member of the pop group N-Dubz has had a complaint against Heat magazine upheld by the Press Complaints Commission after it published a story claiming he cheated on ex-girlfriend Tulisa.
Fazer, whose real name is Richard Rawson, complained to the press watchdog over a story published by the celebrity magazine in February 2012, a month after he split up with the X-Factor judge.
He claimed the story headlined “Exclusive: ‘Fazer cheated on Tulisa with me…Fazer told me he didn’t have a girlfriend – then we kissed'” – breached Clause 1 (accuracy) of the Editors’ Code of Practice.
The article featured an interview with a woman claiming she met Fazer at a nightclub in November 2011, when the pair danced and kissed and he had denied having a girlfriend.
Fazer, who was represented by lawyers from the firm Lewis Silkin, accepted he had spoken and danced with the woman but strongly denied either kissing her or telling her he did not have a girlfriend.
He was also concerned Heat did not approach his representative before publication, telling him of the story only after it had gone to press and failing to include his denial. Continue Reading…..
Heat Magazine decided against approaching Rawson’s representatives for comment because they claimed they had a signed affidavit by the woman plus a witness statement from a freelance journalist who had taken the photographs used to illustrate the story and confirmation that he had witnessed the alleged kiss.
Has it really come to this Heat Magazine???
I remember back in the late nineties/early noughties when Heat was the KING of UK gossip magazines and they published real headline news and scoops. Now it looks as if they have been reduced to touting non-stories of this nature involving B, C, D, X, Y and Z list celebrities.
“Exclusive: ‘Fazer cheated on Tulisa with me…Fazer told me he didn’t have a girlfriend – then we kissed'”
Is this considered an “EXCLUSIVE” over at Heat towers these days???
Honestly I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.
Heat deserved to lose this case for even bothering to publish this nonsense in the first place. What happened to the days when if I publication lied they first picked an interesting celebrity to cover and then created a juicy headline grabbing piece?
But anyway congratulations Fazer on your ‘win’.
