TMZ reports that Rodney King has died at the age of 47.

Rodney King came to the world’s attention when his brutal beating at the hands of the LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department) in 1991 was secretly filmed and the officers involved were later charged. However they were all acquitted in 1992 which sparked Los Angeles riots.

Sources disclosed to the website that King’s fiancée found him dead at the bottom of a swimming pool and  was pronounced dead at 6:11 AM.
