The mother and father of six children who tragically died in a house fire in Derby earlier this month have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Mick Philpott, 55, and his wife Mairead, 31, were arrested in Derby on Tuesday and are due to be questioned.
Jade Philpott, 10, and brothers John, nine, Jack, eight, Jessie, six and Jayden, five, died in the house fire on Victory Road on 11 May.
Another brother, Duwayne, 13, died three days later in hospital.
All six children were asleep upstairs when the fire began in the early hours.
Derbyshire Police said petrol was used to start the fire which was believed to have begun below the house’s letterbox.
The family attracted attention in 2006 when Mr Philpott asked the council for a larger house to accommodate his wife, girlfriend and 14 children.
I wondered how long it would be before the police hauled the parents in. I say no more.

You seem to have an opinion on everything. Why didn’t you run for mayor?
@Blake
Hahahhahahha. Blake you clearly have a problem with my commentary and this site so why don’t you do yourself a favour and STOP VISITING!!!
I find it highly amusing when people complain but still keep coming back. LMAO. It’s comical.
As for running for mayor… Now there’s an idea!!!!!
Were they not arrested on suspicion of murder from the get go? Or are the police wondering why at least ONE of the parents never died in the fire? At least that is what I thought. God willing, I hope that my cynical mind is proved wrong, because I can’t take the news about some of these deranged murders anymore!
No the police originally arrested his former girlfriend and another man but they were released without charge.
Oh,dear…..
