It has been reported that former T4 presenter Miquita Oliver (27) has filed for bankruptcy.
Oliver first got her big break on television (thanks to being well-connected) at the age of sixteen when she was chosen to c0-host hit Channel 4 music show Pop World alongside Simon Amstell. She also went on to become a regular T4 presenter for many years before quitting in 2010.
According to The Daily Mirror Oliver failed to pay a tax bill of more than £170,000, according to a firm of accountants. A statement released by Baker Tilly Restructuring and Recovery said: “HMRC had petitioned for Miss Oliver to be declared bankrupt for unpaid taxes amounting to £174,514.47
Oliver hasn’t been seen on television much since leaving T4 but her publicist confirmed yesterday that,
Miquita Oliver filed for bankruptcy in November 2011. She has many projects in the pipeline both here and in the US for 2012.”
Oh dear. How the once smug and mighty fall.
Admittedly when Miquita co-hosted Pop World with Simon Amstell their interviews with A-list music stars were hilarious. They made a good team. But I think somewhere down the line the fame and good fortune went to her head.
“She has many projects in the pipeline both here and in the US for 2012”.
Really??? I would love to know what those projects are.

Dear oh dear. I wish I studied accountancy, I would have set up a consultancy advising young black entertainers in the UK and US on how to manage their ‘new’ money. There was an article about rappers and their lack of financial prowess in XXL. In the sports arena in the US anyway, up and coming sportsmen have to take a compulsory course which guides them through the money they are set to earn and how not to end up broke. The same is needed in hip hop and hell amongst black folk in entertainment generally – period!
@Misssteele it’s happening less and less in the US with black entertainers. They are getting smarter and investing their money look at people like Jay-Z, Ice Cube, Dre and 50cent
oh k.a.r.m.a!!
