QUOTE OF THE DAY: ACTRESS THANDIE NEWTON BLASTS VOGUE MAGAZINE FOR NOT FEATURING MORE BLACK WOMEN ON IT’S COVERS

“Don’t get me started on black people being on the cover of big magazines. It’s so preposterous. I mean, I’ve been on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar four times; I’ve been on the cover of InStyle four times, but Vogue, not once.”

“And people say to me, I mean literally, people have said to me, ‘What have you got against Vogue that you don’t want to be on their cover?’ And I just laugh.”

[An extract from Thandie’s interview with Pride Magazine]

Tell us something we don’t already know Thandie *yawn*.

And when did Thandie start taking an interest in the plight of black people within her industry? What’s brought this on?

I’m sorry but it just sounds like old twiggy is bitter because Vogue hasn’t approached her to appear on one of their covers. After all she has been on the cover of “Harper’s Bazaar four times” and on the cover of “InStyle four times” so why not Vogue?

Whatever Thandie – Hahahahaha.

  1. @Terra no, fuck Thandie. I’ve always disliked this woman.

She’s the worse kind of black person when things are riding high and she’s getting coked up with her celebrity friends she isn’t black, now things are slowing down and she isn’t on the cover of Vogue suddenly she’s black. KMT. When has she ever represented black people.

I’m fed of black people moaning about Vogue, listen Vogue are gonna do Vogue and that isn’t gonna include black people unless they have white features like a straight nose, and thin lips and are skinny as a twig forget Vogue there are enough black people in the fashion industry to start our own industry that speaks to us you’ve got talented black designers like Gavin Douglas, talented make up artists, talented fashion writers, talented event orgainers the list is endless and I bet if we started that magazines like Vogue would be knocking on our door.

  2. I have no idea Thandie sees herself as Black woman. If I remember well, she once tried to pass for an American, then for a mixed race who doesn t like being reminded she’s part African too! Haha! I think she gets a fairly good exposure in magazine since she’s seen as a classy beauty/person even though i can t name a movie where she cast.

  3. @Chico, thats why I said “Fuck Vogue”
They do what they want to do and have their own agenda. Why she worried about them, they aint worried about her!

  4. Chico-Rei right on the money! But i had no idea she was like what you guys say. I mean when she is interviewed over here she was always about Black Actors this and that… wow! Thanks for the eye opener!!!!! Is she married? And if so….is he white??????? If she is denying her African….what does she say she is??

  5. There are multiple editions of Vogue. Vogue Italia has a black fashion blog and do their special edition features. But is Vogue really worth it. There are other magazines.

  6. Hahaha, has she been on or in any black magazines? Give them a shout out and be proud to have featured in their magazines too. But no, unless we feature in white magazines, we haven’t made it. Please.

  7. @chico-Rei i had a feeling you were going to say that. SHM another one!!!! Let me ask you bro is there Black love over there. Don’t get me wrong i know there is…but with Black celebrities?? As a matter of fact i never seen any Black actor from the UK with anyone Black on their arm…either way…… Not even Idris….what gives

  8. To be honest with black celebrities not really, no. I recently had an argument with a white guy who said to me, hey what’s up with black footballers don’t they like black women or something, because so many of them are with white women. I know for a fact Ashley Walters is with a black girl though.
