Legendary Radio 1 DJ Pete Tong has been granted a restraining order against Massive Attack singer Shara Nelson – who claimed she was his WIFE.
Nelson, who sang on the Bristol group’s 1991 hit single Unfinished Sympathy, also harassed him with nuisance calls, a court heard.
Nelson even gave her surname to the court as Tong and claimed she was married to the DJ and had his child. She was also accused of telling colleagues at his work that she was his manager.
However, the claims are false and her campaign caused ‘distress and embarrassment’ for Essential Mix host Tong, the court heard.
The Sun reports Nelson was banned indefinitely from contacting Tong, 51, or his friends and family.
She was given a 12-month community order and 80 hours’ community service by West London magistrates.
Nelson, 46, went on to have a solo career after Massive Attack in which she landed five UK Top 40 hit singles as well as a gold-selling album What Silence Knows, which was also nominated for the 1994 Mercury Music Prize. Continue Reading…
