Singer and Strictly Come Dancing judge Alesha Dixon

That Grape Juice reports that singer Alesha Dixon has been dropped from Asylum Records (Atlantic)

Read the official statement below announcing her parting from the label.

Alesha would like to announce that after discussions with her record label, Asylum/Atlantic, we have decided not to extend her recording contract.

It became clear during our discussions that both Alesha and her label had some creative differences which we were unable to resolve and it was mutually agreed that the best course of action for both parties was to part company on good terms.

Alesha would like to thank Asylum records for their support and hard work over the past 2 albums and wish them all the best going forward.

We are currently in discussions with other labels and look forward to a new record in 2012.

Alesha is proud to have been Asylum Records first platinum selling artist and to have delivered them their first international success with “The Boy Does Nothing” which has now sold almost 1 million copies worldwide and was a top 10 hit in 20 countries. (Source)

I have never been a fan of Alesha’s music. The sickly bubble gum sound and mediocre vocals did nothing for me. But I wish her the best of luck with her future endeavours future.

  1. Never really like her (music, persona…), I don’t why she reminds me of Cheryl Cole.

  2. I am not surprised. Being on Dancing With The Stars has done nothing for her record sales. I am sure her record company were expecting something akin to Cheryl Cole’s rise to prominence from Alesha.

  3. well lets hope the next label lets her do some stuff like backin days Misteeq but more with todays sound. She can also call her ex Pharrell to help her musically. i am sure this chick will be ok

  4. She’s sold a lot of records with that label but I guess the numbers dipped with the new singles which were not that hot. (the drummer boy track and the other one with Jay Sean) I never liked her music but her gaining popularity on strictly come dancing helped at some point.

She needs some edgy stuff. I like Alesha. I really want to like her music too.

  5. I’ve always liked Alesha but I never liked her music, the problem for Alesha is she has to be in the limelight for her records to sale, its like Peter Andre, people don’t buy his music because it’s good they buy it because they like him, Alesha is exactly the same
