Each year a succession of lavish, expensive A-list packed balls/galas are thrown in a bid to help children and families affected by HIV/AIDS in the developing world. And once again I will say that I hope all the partying makes a difference in the lives of the suffering.

How many times do we need to hear the same sob stories and still see no change in Africa to realise that all of these so called “fundraisers” are all scams and rackets. If you want to keep a child alive, pick a child or a family and send them money directly yourself. That way you are sure that the money is actually getting to the people in question. I know of a friend who directly sponsors a family in Africa himself.
honestly verbs the whole pick a fam and just sponser them thing is a little naive… its not that simple….
real talk … pick a fam get to know them and see what your spending your money on … i would never advise advise anyone to just blindly give money !!!
@Tymusic
Apologies, I should have made myself clearer, the method you mentioned is exactly what I was referring to, personally know the family who you are sending the money to, no middle men ie so called “charities” involved, just you and them. It is the only way to ensure that your money is actually going to the family or child.
exactly and that the famiy themselves are not conning you !!!
