UK NEWS: BOY-BAND BLUE TO REPRESENT THE UK AT THE 2011 EUROVISION SONG CONTEST

Blue

It has been announced that reformed boy band Blue will represent the UK at the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest.

The four piece will perform the self-written song I Can at the annual competition, which will take place in May in Dusseldorf, Germany.

Formed in 2000, Blue split in 2004 to concentrate on solo careers and reformed in 2009. The band has sold more than 13 million records, and have also won two Brit Awards.

……………………………………………………………….

When I first came across this news I had to back track just to confirm that the group representing Britain at cheesy Eurovision this year was in fact the super popular early-mid noughties boy band Blue.

Established acts rarely enter this contest.

For those who don’t know Blue were HUGE! Then the group split at the height of their fame for a while and reformed in 2009. But I think their return to the music scene didn’t go as well as hoped, which sort of explains the decision to enter the Eurovision Song Contest.

I hope for their sakes they win.

  1. Umm….. they were huge in that quaint British “only in Britain, lets collaborate with a couple of “don’t have to be that serious again about music again , because our time done come and gone” artists (yeah, Elton and the genius Stevie Wonder) kinda way. Anyhoo, good luck to them. It looks like the recession a bite everybody rass, now!

  2. they aint gonna win Eurovision, the UK never does. I guess it will bring them some publicity for a “comeback” it’s kinda sad they have to go this route but I guess not everyone can do a Take That haha

  3. I used to love Blue – i think eurovision is a promo thing – but Blue – you can do better than eurovision. boy band competition is hot at the moment with JLS Take that et al and soon to be teeny bop sensations one direction – Blue to up their game

We would have had a much better chance with Jedward

I seriously hope that was meant in a sarcastic way – those two twats can’t even sing!

I used to love Blue, and still enjoy their music. Best of luck to the boys, that’s all I can say. We’ll have to wait until May to see what happens.
