Former footballer and fired TV pundit Robbie Earle has claimed that ITV bosses knew he was buying 400 World Cup tickets through them.
Earle insisted that he had no idea friend Keith Higgins, would sell them on to a third party breaking FIFA rules.
The Daily Mail also reports that ITV is now at the centre of a World Cup ticketing storm after it was revealed that,
A top ITV executive – one of its four directors of news and sport – helped organise Earle’s massive allocation for 11 high-profile matches, including England’s group games, with a face value of £70,000.
And The Mail on Sunday’s investigation has established that Earle’s friend, Keith Higgins, has also regularly been involved in the unofficial sale of tickets for sold-out international sporting events, concerts and West End shows – including supplying them to a top political public relations firm with close links to the Labour Party. Poor Robbie.. he doesn’t look too good does he?
All I can say is you should have exercised better judgement Robbie, for reasons that I can’t even be bothered to go in to. It’s too obvious.
The man should have kept his head down and nose clean.
Robbie has lost his livelihood and will continue to pay dearly for his mistake, while “friend” Keith Higgins and the top ITV executive will both continue to earn a decent living once this has all blown over.
