A police dog handler who let his two devoted German Shepherds bake to death in the back of his car has escaped jail after claiming the stress of the job made him forgetful.
PC Mark Johnson faced up to six months in prison and a £20,000 fine for letting his beloved dogs die in ‘excruciating pain’ during a heat wave after becoming distracted by paperwork for seven hours.
But yesterday he was handed a six-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £2,500 costs after a judge heard previous investigations into his conduct had turned him into a nervous wreck.
Jet, ten, and 18-month-old Jay-Jay were left in the caged luggage compartment of PC Johnson’s Ford Mondeo estate at Nottingham Police’s headquarters in Arnold with no water and the windows closed. Continue Reading….

Two dogs die in the back of a car and the police dog handler is charged and dragged in to court, where he is forced to explain his actions to a judge, jury and the waiting media.
Hundreds of black men died at the hands of the police up and down the country throughout the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. Where was the media interest then? Where was the outrage? There were no trials and still to this day no one has been held accountable for those deaths.
Yet dead dogs receive more justice and respect!
