UK BLACK MAINSTREAM PERSONALITIES FAIL TO ACKNOWLEDGE HAITI CRISIS

Dizzie Rascal

Do you know what I’ve noticed? That not one black personality in this country (currently enjoying mainstream success) has bothered to address the situation in Haiti or helped to drum up support for the relief effort.

Not ONE!

Taio Cruz, Dizzie Rascal, Tinchy Stryder, Chipmunk, Lemar, JLS, Alexandra Burke, Alesha Dixon, the list is endless! – What’s the matter??? Cat got your tongues???

TYPICAL!

  1. Don’t be stupid!

    Why be so negative???

Firstly you don’t know what they’re doing behind close doors.

With Tinchy I know he’s flown out to record in LA & because he couldnt perform himself arranged for Ruff squad to perform at tomorrows clubbing for Haiti event & donated A LOT of Star In The Hood gear to the raffle.

Also in speaking to him I know he was genuinely moved by the Haitians suffering

Don’t judge when you don’t know.

  2. i did se something about a concert or a benefit from chantelle fiddy with a load of artists on it and their comments which seem to have been collated in to one big article….
i did see that today some where ctrl + shift i think!!!
and thats whee i saw the tinchy teeshirt donation information… and the fact that he’s abroad!!
    ………………………..
    which is good!!
i saw bashy tweet the haiti yele information a few days ago!!!
    and!!!!!!
a few benefits and concerts are popping up !!
    BUT THATS NOT ENOUGH!!!
    FOLKS NEED TO ACTUALLY TALK!!
IF YOU CHECK THEIR TWEETS .. FOLKS ARE TALKING AS NORMAL!!
ANY REC EXEC OR PR COULD PULL TOGTHER CONCERTS!! OR ORGANISE SHOWS… featuring famous urban names!!!
!! but that not always the way!!!
    ..

  3. Chipmunk was in Jamaica when it happened, which is practically next door to Haiti, so as you can imagine its big news there, people are sending aid etc. You know he didn’t acknowledge what had happened. Well I didn’t see any tweets mentioning the disaster. However I did see one letting us know that he was lying poolside….

  4. Hahahaha………

Janice, your forcing people out of the closet. LMAO

Oh dear, your going to have a busy day.lol

  5. its like this … YES AGREE TO A SHOW !! TURN UP ~~~~….
BUT WHAT’S JUST AS IMPORTANT is people speaking up about it !! cos if you talk about it then it becomes a concern for the public and for your fans…. you are heightening awareness!!
DONT THINK FOR A SECOND THAT THE UK DOESNT WANT TO MARGINALISE THIS AS A NATIONAL DISASTER AND MOVE ON IN TWO WEEKS TIME FROM EVER MENTIONING IT AGAIN!!!… its up to people to MAKE THE WORLD UNDERSTAND THIS IS an international disaster!!!
… artists!!!! speak use your media voices… the same folks that are quick to blog about being backstage, or making a video , or doing a festival ARE NOT VIDEOTAPING THEMSELVES RESPONDING TO THE FACT THAT NEARLY 500,000 PEOPLE JUST LOST THEIR LIVES!!…
    speak up!

  6. so does your involvement in tyhe Haitian cause extend beyond blogging about other people not showing a public interest?
maybe some artists made donations but didnt publicse it (unlikely I know, but possible)

taking the moral high ground and berating people’s apathy just because they are in the public eye and probably earn more money than you isnt really a good look. why did you single out black entertainers?!

    just saying.

  7. @djstepone

“so does your involvement in tyhe Haitian cause extend beyond blogging about other people not showing a public interest?”

    It does actually 🙂

“taking the moral high ground and berating people’s apathy just because they are in the public eye and probably earn more money than you isnt really a good look”

You know what Step One you’re right. In the words of the great man himself Tim Westwood “its a terrible look”. And to all those black entertainers I singled out – Mad News apologises.

  8. “lati Says:

Just my 2p, why not black entertainers? Haiti is a black country”

so only two thirds of N-Dubz are obliged to give a fuck?

  9. The point i was trying to make is, if black people do not show that much concern for this cause, especially for a black country, who is?

  10. For what’s it’s worth my view is this, if anyone needs a black, white, whatever, artist to tell them how serious the situation in Haitai is then they have problems, the news and the pictures we see are enough for us all to realise. I think if the likes of the people you mentioned earlier were constantly tweeting about it, etc people might say there just doing it as a bit of self promotion to show that they are down for the cause. If we’re dontating or helping out in some way which I think we all are none of us whether we’re ‘famous’ or not needs to promote it, it’s a personal thing.

Additionally I like the way a lot of people have come together over this to help people in a dire situation but it needs to continue for a sustained period, long after the media has left, because it’s going to be a long road back to anything near normality (if at all possible) for those people and they will need help and support for years to come.

  11. You know what, I don’t disagree with any of you. I really think artists should use their voices where possible.

But my main issue is the fact that this blog was so quick to point out that certain artist wern’t doing enough.

The internet is powerful man! and whilst pointing out others weaknesses / faults / failures (as this blog does a lot) might help you feel better about your own life & insecurities or maybe you just want to remind people that these so called ‘celebs’ have weaknesses, whatever.

It would be great if you also highlighted a lot more of the positives that these people do (I know sometimes there could be a lot more of this) but firstly people respont better growth wise to positive re-inforcement (ie Tinchy seeing an appreciation for the little he is doing might encorage him to do more) and secondly prominent black people get attcked enough infront of and behind closed doors (particularly by people that aren’t black) with another ‘blog’ on the internet doing the same.

  12. @Mike

    “The internet is powerful man!”

Nobody knows that more than me Mike.

“and whilst pointing out others weaknesses / faults / failures (as this blog does a lot) might help you feel better about your own life & insecurities or maybe you just want to remind people that these so called ‘celebs’ have weaknesses, whatever.”

Well.. that’s something to think about!

  13. Everyday I wake up broke and penniless, using my last electric to sadly come on to Mad News because I wish to criticise people that earn more money than me….Shame for my sorry existence…money is everything, I realise this is why I cannot find it in myself to rate any of these UK mainstream people…I must make some money..oh no, the electrics runni…

  14. Well if you want to donate money to Haiti, Redcross is the last organisation to send your money to, the Haitians won’t see a penny. Redcross has been caught so many times pocketing money that they have raised for various disaster funds. The symbol for the Red cross is the same one used by the illuminati Knights Templar during their ‘crusades’. Now, you do the math.

  15. wow, I missed alot…

@ Janice (sorry I late lol) MY PERSONAL opinion at the time of reading Mikes first comment was like ok, I’m not really buying that, smells like damage control to me.

But Regardless of what people say, I agree with TY it’s all about raising MORE awareness, many in the limelight / mainstream have a great platform to speak from and In my opinion rarely use it to speak on anything that is worthy!…

    Chipmunk, ‘By the poolside’ LOOOOOL!
