Paris Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld and photographer Steven Klein are today facing backlash over their decision to photograph Dutch born model Lara Stone in blackface for a 14 page editorial in their October issue. Continue Reading….

Dutch born model Lara Stone

Shipping in tons of brown thick mud to smear all over the bodies of caucasian models.

Hmmmm….Interesting move… interesting….

Vogue really hate the idea of hiring black models to grace their coveted pages don’t they?

Hahaha!

I have to laugh at this foolishness.  I’m surprised they didn’t go as far as sticking full lips and a wide nose (molded out of plaster taken from a live black model and then dipped in mud) on Lara, just to give that extra dash of “ethnicity” .

Nothing shocks me anymore and I am actually past caring.

Continue to be controversial and bordering on offensive Vogue. I’m a big girl I can take whatever you throw at me.

  1. It reminds of the movie ‘the african queen’ where i sat and watched and waited to see the african queen till i realised that it was katherine hepburn. Unless i missed her but yes, the white katherine hepburn was the ‘african queen’. These antics r going no where.

  2. They called the boat the african queen, katherine hepburn was lead actress, and they only showed the africans in a funny way fighting 4 a cigarrete thrown by a white actor. The title never made any sense, filming it in africa and naming a boat african queen never made sense. With a romance story between two white pple on a boat called african queen. I never got it at all just like i don’t get this woman being painted black. Smh

  3. So they’d rather paint a White chick black than to just put any of the dozens of (much prettier) actually Black models up?

Is that what I’m reading here?

Didn’t they just have a phenomenally successful issue FEATURING some of the aforementioned Black models?

It just doesn’t make much sense to me…

  4. That Black Issue was a one off which was never going to change anything. I never understood all the excitement. They were throwing us a bone because Obama stood a good chance of being elected president at the time (I heard that inspired the issue).
