According to reporter Donna J. Miller from the Cleveland Daily News, singer Sean Levert was chained to a chair before his death.
Sean Levert had been acting strangely at the Cuyahoga County Jail before he died, Warden Kevin McDonough said in a news release.
Levert was at the jail for five days, living among the “general population” there. He then displayed “bizarre behavior” and was put in an observation cell Sunday night. He began shouting and pounding on the cell door, so guards put him in a restraint chair, “without resistance and for his own protection,” McDonough said.
Levert’s wrists were strapped to the chair and his feet were shackled to the floor. About 20 minutes later, he appeared “distressed” and was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Sheriff’s Office and County Coroner are investigating.
Sources also say that the Levert family have asked the Federal Bureau Of Investigation to investigate the death of Sean as a possible homicide.

  1. I strongly believe amendments should be made with the Child Support Enforcement Laws. It is a disgrace that father’s are placed under custody of the court as if non payment of child support is a crime!

Yes, I agree that absent parents should be responsible for their children’s financial well being. Honestly, how do you expect to obtain a payment from an incarcerated father. Could it be that due to the economy jobs are hard to come by. A father that paid child support if laid off now will find himself with a possiblity of incarceration.

What a bigger disgrace that you place a man in jail for non-payment of child support and now the agency will never receive a payment due to his death. The biggest loss is that his children have lost a father. I strongly believe a “Life” has no price. $85,000.00 can’t bring Sean back!
