Whatever Sony! Via BBC News Record label Sony has apologised for increasing the price of two Whitney Houston albums hours after her death on Saturday. The wholesale cost of the two LPs – Houston’s Ultimate Collection and Greatest Hits – went up by around £3 each, causing an automatic price increase on iTunes. Several months ago UK rapper Chipmunk parted ways with major label Sony Music ( now who didn’t see that coming?) and is now ‘an ‘independent artist’. The Friday Hip Hop Report Debate Panel discuss whether they think Chipmunk is better off as an independent artist. ……. Your thoughts please….

I haven’t really paid much attention to Beyonce’s latest album ‘I am…. Sasha Fierce’, but I do like the tracks ‘Single Ladies’, ‘If I Were A Boy’ and now this one – ‘Diva’. I look forward to the video’s release in January 09. There have been times when I’ve begged Beyonce to get out of my face. Go away and give us time to miss you. Sony has launched a new urban imprint dedicated to reviving the practice of artist development, AllHipHop.com has learned. Battery Records will be lead by Penalty Records Founder Neil Levine and distributed through Sony’s RED Marketing Group.
