Anyway the singer picked up the Breakthrough Performance award for her role as a social worker in the film, at the Palm Springs International Film Festival last night (January 5th). ‘PRECIOUS’ NAMED BEST FILM OF 2009

Rolling Stone has named Precious the top film of the year. The Lee Daniels-directed film, which is produced by Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry, stars Mo’Nique, Gabourey Sidibe, Mariah Carey, Paula Patton and Lenny Kravitz. Precious is based on Sapphire’s novel Push and will arrive in UK cinemas on January 29th.

Based on the novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire, critically acclaimed film ‘Precious’ starring Mo’Nique, Paula Patton, Gabourey Sidibe, Lenny Kravitz and Mariah Carey will be released across America on the 6th November (no word on a UK release date yet). Directed by Lee Daniels, the Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry backed film is also receiving some Oscar buzz.
