Mayor Boris Johnson A £700,000 funding package has been announced by the mayor of London to help tackle knife and gun crime among young people. The money will fund projects which hope to steer youngsters away from violent crime, said Boris Johnson. The announcement follows a spate of high-profile deaths of young people in London. Former Deputy Mayor Ray Lewis London’s deputy mayor has resigned two months into his post amid claims of financial irregularities. Ray Lewis faced allegations relating to his time as a vicar in east London in the late 1990s and head of a youth academy scheme in 2003.
