Photograph: REUTERS Pop star Madonna holds Mercy, the little girl who she desperatly wants to adopt. The singer’s agent released this photograph to the media several days ago. So many thoughts ran through my head when I first spotted this photograph yesterday. Madonna’s application to adopt a second child from Malawi has been rejected, according to court sources. Madonna’s Malawi Adoption Is ‘Denied’ The pop star will not be allowed to adopt three-year-old Mercy James, ruled the High Court in the capital, Lilongwe. Court registrar Ken Manda said the singer’s bid to adopt the girl – previously believed to be aged four – had been rejected because Madonna is not a resident of Malawi. Via The Sunday Mirror Madonna was yesterday accused by the leading children’s charity of conducting a “puppy parade” over her plan to adopt a second child from Malawi. The singer is due to arrive in the African country tomorrow in an attempt to adopt a four-year-old girl called Mercy James.
