LENNY HENRY WANTS TO STOP BLACK BRITISH TALENT FLEEING TO AMERICA

Comedian/actor Lenny Henry is very outspoken these days over the plight of Britain’s black talent. I had this to say about Lenny in a previous post: When Lenny was cock of the walk at the BBC back in the 1980s and in a position to help implement change he never really spoke out about the lack of diversity in television . But almost three decades later (and no longer cock of the walk at Auntie Beeb) Lenny is now chairing committees, speaking out []

SENIOR BBC BLACK EXECUTIVE PAT YOUNGE TALKS LACK OF DIVERSITY ON BRITISH TELEVISION / DOTUN ADEBAYO NOT IMPRESSED

In July Pat Younge resigned from his post as  chief creative officer of BBC Productions and will say goodbye to the corporation at the end of this year. But before leaving Pat has decided to speak out about the lack of diversity on British television. In a recent interview with Radio 5 Live breakfast he said: “I have lived in both [the US and the UK]. I would rather personally live in Britain as a culture, as a society, in terms of how different races []

VIDEO: TOP 5 FAILS OF 2009

The folks over at Ragggs.com have compiled a list of top 5 FAILS within the world of UK entertainment in 2009. I am pleased to see that they included that “supporter of black women” Taio Cruz on this list. However he should have gone in at number 1.

UK FILM: STREET DANCE 3D

I just watched the trailer for the up and coming film ‘Street Dance (3D)’ and it looks like it’s trying to be the UK’s answer to US dance films made over the past 5/6 years e.g. ‘Step Up’. Britain’s Got Talent winners Diversity team up with dance group rivals Flawless and 2008 Britain’s Got Talent winner George Sampson. It looks like another cheesy dance movie with a weak storyline, but well done to Flawless and Diversity for getting this gig. Film release []

BRITAIN’S GOT TALENT: SUSAN BOYLE ADMITTED IN TO HOSPITAL, WINNERS DIVERSITY STILL BEING IGNORED BY THE BRITISH MEDIA

It has been reported today that Britain’s Got Talent runner up Susan Boyle has been admitted in to a clinic suffering from exhaustion and has allegedly been sectioned under the Mental Health Act. Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who clearly doesn’t have enough to do, a country to run, or thieving politicians to fire, appeared on GMTV this morning and disclosed that he had spoken to judges Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan to check on Susan’s progress. He then added, “I hope Susan Boyle []

DIVERSITY WIN BRITAIN’S GOT TALENT BUT RUNNER UP SUSAN BOYLE RACKS UP THE COLUMN INCHES

Andrew over at The Worst Kept Secret pointed out today that even though street dance troupe Diversity took home ‘The Britain’s Got Talent’ crown last night, it’s runner up Susan Boyle’s face that can be seen splashed across the front pages of all the newspapers today. Susan comes across as being a lovely woman but she didn’t win the competition. Diversity did. The media coverage should therefore be focused on them NOT the runner up! But this is just typical of the []
