TV NETWORK CANCELS RAPPER’S ‘ALL MY BABIES’ MAMAS’ “REALITY” SHOW DUE TO PUBLIC PRESSURE / RAPPER URGES NETWORK TO ‘GIVE THE SHOW A CHANCE’

Last month it was reported that the US TV network Oxygen Media was set to air a new “reality” show titled ‘All My Babies’ Mamas’ featuring Atlanta rap artist Shawty Lo (real name Carlos Walker), his 11 children and their 10 different mothers. …. What a disgrace…. Thankfully this low brow nonsense has been shut down after thousands (37,000) signed an online petition calling for Oxygen to cancel the show after the trailer hit the Internet. The Parents Television Council also called the show’s concept “grotesquely  irresponsible and exploitive” and pledged to contact advertisers of the show if  []

UK NEWS: SCREEN NATION AWARDS CANCELLED TO “PROTECT THE SCREEN NATION BRAND”

The Voice Online reports that the annual Screen Nation Film & Television Awards (aka the ‘black Oscars’) which is due to take place on Sunday (November 11th) at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel has now been cancelled. In a rather intriguing statement organisers said that the event had been cancelled to “protect the Screen Nation Brand” and blamed the last-minute cancellation on “delays in payment,  partners pulling out at late notice and a major health and safety issue. UK NEWS: EAST LONDON’S ‘UNDERAGE FESTIVAL’ CANCELLED

The Voice Online reports that the youth music event the Underage Festival has been cancelled due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’. The festival geared towards 13-18 year olds was due to take place on Friday August 31st in Shoreditch Park. R KELLY CANCELS PERFORMANCE AT REGGAE SUMFEST

Singer R Kelly will no longer be performing at this years Reggae Sumfest in Montego Bay, Jamaica, due to having undergone emergency surgery to drain an abscess from his tonsil, and will be ‘laid up indefinitely’. Summerfest Productions executive director Johnny Gourzong said in a statement “Kelly’s unforeseen and unavoidable health issues will prevent him from making a scheduled appearance on the music festival. We are truly going to miss his presence on the festival,”.

POLICE SHUT DOWN DRAKE CONCERT IN NEW YORK

Rapper/singer Drake released his highly anticipated debut album Thank Me Later yesterday, and decided to throw a free concert in New York. However the concert was later cancelled when 25,000 people turned up and proceeded to lose their minds and acted the fool for no good reason. The crowd became unruly (fights broke out and rioting) which led to safety concerns. UPDATE: UK EVENT: THE BLACK TIE COMEDY AWARDS CANCELLED / NEW DATE NOW CONFIRMED

It’s been announced that the highly anticipated Black Tie Comedy Awards, due to be held tonight (August 23rd), has been cancelled. The first ever Black Tie Comedy Awards organised in celebration of some of the UK’s top black comedians was supposed to be held at the IndigO2 but the Metropolitan Police apparently stepped in and shut it down.
