South Africa’s president Jacob Zuma has urged African women to embrace natural hairstyles and avoid straightening their hair with chemical products. Weaves and relaxers are still popular on the African continent, but elsewhere natural hair is making a comeback.
Would you stick by your women if they had bad hair? Check out this weave verses natural hair ‘debate’ featured on the online talk show Bedroom Diaries Of A Black Woman with Benny Bonsu and Issak Badru. [Thanks Melissa] I don’t have a problem with weaves and I also love the natural look. But it sounds like Benny has an issue with natural hair. Why does she insist on referring to our hair in its natural beautiful state as “nappy” and “bald” […]
When this Essence interview featuring blue-eyed soul singer Robin Thicke was brought to my attention earlier today (thanks Pinboard) I laughed out loud in the street. Robin is married to actress Paula Patton and because of this union Essence thought it would be a good idea to ask him the following question… ESSENCE: The media often tells Black women that they’re better off dating White guys. What’s your response to that? THICKE: I think that’s ridiculous. There are so many good Black men […]
Help ‘Milk and Honey’ series get 1 million views! Asha May, together with her mentor Debbie Allen, Idris Elba and Lance Gross have created an excellent TV series, – Milk + Honey. Idris and the Brown Paper Dolls company (Chicagoans and Howard U, FAMU & Spelman, grads Dana Gills, Asha Kamali May, and Jeanette McDuffie) have been working on this series for over 3 years. The show was created to showcase diverse images of women of color that are rarely seen on […]
Check out that ‘lover of black women’ / ‘equal opportunities employer’ Taio Cruz and his new video… Taio really is hot stuff – SIZZLING!!! And so macho… I’m suprised the love interest in this latest video has big lips. Trying something new are we Taio? Your thoughts please. Hit or Miss?
This looks like it’s going to be a good one! hahahaha! I wonder if UK singer / part-time TV personality / mother of two / third division WAG Jamelia, managed to bag a feature in this film? Does anyone remember the documentary she fronted, which explored the world of weave?
Via Pride Magazine Idris is an attractive man but I just don’t fancy him. I do look forward though to reading his interview and I cannot wait to see the hunks featured in the Britain’s Top Bachelor list. I plan on stopping off at my local newsagency tonight!
