The surprise of a lifetime was unveiled at Westfield Stratford City as Adidas brought astonished shoppers face to face with global icon David Beckham. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0OzSpzYe6I&feature=player_embedded#! … The little boy and his mum seem genuine, but the others featured look like they could have been hired by the Adidas marketing team. Some may have even already appeared in the numerous ad campaigns leading up to the Olympics. But hey perhaps I am being far too cynical here….

Well.. well.. it looks like Adidas won’t be releasing this mess in August after all. Via CNN German sports apparel maker Adidas withdrew its plans to sell a controversial sneaker featuring affixed rubber shackles after the company generated significant criticism when advertising the shoe on it’s Facebook page. Mad News reader Nemat brought these ridiculous new trainers to my attention a week ago but I just kept thinking this has to be a hoax. No way would sports giant Adidas release this cheap, tacky, ugly and some will say controversial shoe. Boy was I wrong.
