UK NEWS: BLACK BRITON TO MAKE NORTH POLE HISTORY

Ex-soldier turned adventurer John Thompson hopes to make history by becoming the first black Briton to reach the North Pole. Thompson, who is from Hackney East London, will set off on his trip this month (April) for charity. The money raised will be donated to Cancer Research. CLIVE DAVIS REPLACED BY BARRY WEISS AS BMG LABEL HEAD

Photograph: AP – Clive with Whitney Houston Legendary music executive Clive Davis has been replaced by Barry Weiss as chairman and chief executive officer of the BMG label group. Parent company Sony BMG announced the move Thursday (April 17th). The 74-year-old Davis will become chief creative officer of Sony BMG. Two other BMG executives also departed in the label shakeup. 2008 SOUL TRAIN MUSIC AWARDS CANCELLED. NO EXPLANATION GIVEN.

Reuters Life is reporting that the Soul Train Music Awards has been cancelled without explanation.   The brainchild of former Chicago DJ Don Cornelius, “Soul Train” was due to celebrate its 22nd award show this year, but a spokeswoman for the program said the show would not go ahead as planned. Continue Reading      Last year only D-Z list celebrities attended this event. Why he felt the need to jump on this track a longside Mariah is beyond me.  The orignal sounds weak and this doesn’t sound any better.  A ‘Touch My Body’  remix is something we could have all done without. Plus a male vocalist singing over this saccrine sweet/empty/immature/R&B bubblegum production just sounds odd. Kelz also seems to be obsessed with ‘the club’.
