UK NEWS: THE IPCC ISSUE NEW STATEMENT OVER SMILEY CULTURE’S DEATH

Earlier this year Reggae star Smiley Culture (real name David Emanuel) died during a police raid inside his home on March 15 in Surrey and according to the MET died from a stab wound to the chest while “making a cup of tea”. UK TV: CELEBRITY BIG BROTHER 2011 LAUNCHES ON CHANNEL 5

Last night I tuned in to the launch of Celebrity Big Brother 2011 (now on Channel 5) and laughed, cringed and laughed again. UK NEWS: HEAT, FHM AND ZOO REPORT SALES SLUMP

Digital Spy reports that magazine titles Heat, FHM and the ‘delightful Zoo’ Magazine have all seen their sales slump during the first half of 2011. According to the website ‘FHM’s sales fell by a fifth year-on-year, while Heat dropped 21.8% year-on-year. Zoo fell 32.1% and has now shed around half of its readers in two years’. UK NEWS: WORK EXPERIENCE PLACEMENT AT ITN

Applications are now open for ITN’s Work Experience Programme to commence on 12th September 2011. This is a two week placement that can take place in ITV News, Channel 4 News or ITN Productions. It is open to anyone in the UK over the age of 18. Applicants to the work experience programme for ITV News and Channel 4 News will work alongside experienced news specialists and have the opportunity to learn what it takes to produce a high quality news programme.
