DOCUMENTARY: TRUE STORY NOLLYWOOD (TRAILER)

True Story Nollywood is a documentary about the stories written and told by the world’s third largest film industry. According to the website Shadow and Act the documentary premiered last month at the Anthology Film Archives in New York City. I don’t know if there are plans to premier the film here in London.

Shadow and Act reports that British actress Lenora Crichlow has been cast in a new US pilot show which will air on ABC. The star of BBC Three’s critically-acclaimed supernatural drama series Being Human  currently in its final season) has booked a role in the untitled Cullen Brothers comedy which centers on “Terry Gannon (Maggie Lawson), a recently divorced single mother who temporarily moves in with her estranged father (James Caan), a beer-swilling former baseball player.” Crichlow will play a character named Gigi, […]

UK NEWS: FILM DISTRIBUTOR REVOLVER ENTERTAINMENT SHUTS DOWN

Screen Daily reports that film distributor Revolver Entertainment has closed its doors until further notice. The company responsible for bringing us British “URBAN” film classics such as Shank, SKET, Payback Season, Kidulthood, Anuvahood and Ill Manors has also apparently told its remaining staff not to return as the company would not be paying them. According to senior staff formerly at Revolver, there are also other company-specific financial reasons for the company’s demise, not just the general DVD downturn.
