As far as I am concerned this was a pretty ground breaking moment for the UK’s black music scene . I am still shocked that the Brit organisers acknowledged and allowed my beloved So Solid Crew to perform, because up until that point they were happy to pretend as if black acts didn’t exist. But now a group made up of largely young black males from South London was performing on stage in front of millions of viewers (including ‘Middle England’) on The Brits (of all shows) which was simply unheard of back then. The prestigious 2011 OMAs (Official Mixtape Awards) took place last night ( March 12). Didn’t the same sort of event take place just 2/3 months ago? Anyway watch the footage (Via Grime Daily) below featuring interviews with some of last nights winners. Well the winners look ecstatic! “Overwhelmed still man…” – Really??? Try telling your face that. And I don’t think rapper/actor Snakey Man deep down really appreciated that joke being said on camera. Hahahahahaha.

Via BBC News The most powerful earthquake to hit Japan since records began has hit the country’s north-east and triggered a devastating tsunami. Japanese TV showed cars, ships and buildings swept away by a vast wall of water after the 8.9-magnitude quake.
