Over twenty staffers, along with industry executives Jonathan McHugh and Chris Hicks were dismissed from the Island Def Jam/Motown record labels. The Voice reports that police in Zimbabwe are hunting down a group of women who have been sexually assaulting young men at gunpoint. They believe the trio, who kidnap “young men” before sexually assaulting them, carry out the act for ritual purposes, because in some cases the women use condoms to collect the man’s sperm, fuelling further speculation that the crimes are ritualistic. I keep hearing positive things about Jay-Z’s protegé J Cole but I never bothered listening to any of his work until his new single Work Out landed in my inbox late last night. The track – He opens singing the chorus to Paula Abdul’s ’89’ hit debut single Straight Up which threw me a little.
