Black entertainment platform The Colour Network launched its annual Black Magic Awards last month to honour women of colour who have pushed boundaries and made remarkable contributions across different industries, be it entertainment, business, sport, education or the community. They continue the legacy of that uplifting and inspirational evening, with the launch of the much-anticipated Black Magic podcast.

Hosted by media maven Annika Allen, this podcast series in partnership with audio producers Unedited – will premiere on October 26, and contain inspirational and thought-provoking conversations with brilliant and resilient British Black women – about their life journeys, paths to success—peppered with lessons on how they fill their lives with meaning, purpose and passion and navigate any challenges.

The first episode will feature interviews with Britain’s Got Talent judge and TV presenter Alesha Dixon and founder of blood cancer charity the African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust, Beverley De Gale, who were both honoured at the awards. The second episode sees fashion entrepreneur Yolande Letshou and social influencer Cassandra Lokko reveal intimate details of battling illness and coping with loss and Black Magic honouree Angie Le Mar discussing sexism in comedy.

Co-owner of The Colour Network and host Annika Allen says:

“We are very excited about the launch of this podcast. It allows us to bring black magic to a wider audience and have funny, celebratory and aspirational chats with exceptional women and encourage young queens.”

Unedited’s Cassandra Denton adds:

This podcast is an important one for us to produce, as we tend to look to the states for inspiration, overlooking the phenomenal talent that we have on our shores.

What’s exciting is that each episode features 3 different stories and perspectives, and these interactions need to be produced delicately to ensure we get the blend right.

These women have all triumphed in their respective industries, and have a lot to offer those who are following in their footsteps.

Listeners will be able to access, download and subscribe to The Black Magic podcast through the Unedited Stories Network including Acast, iTunes, Google Podcast, Castbox, Player.FM and Stitcher. There will also be an audio rss feed on The Colour Network website.
