In 2014 London based entrepreneur Joanne Blake created a revolutionary and unique product, the Swimscarf.

Joanne says,

On holiday, I longed to jump into the pool but didn’t want to get my hair wet. I hated wearing my regular swim cap, as it was too tight and I didn’t like how I looked. It was very uncomfortable. I wanted to look stylish and not balding, as some caps can make you look like this. I also knew that chlorine in pools and regular hair washing stripped our hair from its natural oils and that there are others like me who don’t have the time to restyle their hair after swimming.

I wanted to design a cap that was functional and fashionable at the same time, and that would appeal to others, especially for those with lots of hair and for those that didn’t want to get their hair wet. This led to the creation of the Swimscarf.

The Swimscarf is a self-tying swimming cap that has adjustable cords and a lock at the back, providing extra hold and protection by pulling the ties together. The Swimscarf is double layered at the front and fits all adult head sizes. It is perfect for all hair lengths and hair types and it is suitable for dreadlocks, afro, kinky, braids, weaves and long hair. The Swimscarf is also specially designed to accommodate hair with volume.
