Actress/writer Michaela Coel picked up the best female performance in a comedy (Chewing Gum) at last night’s TV BAFTA Awards.
During her acceptance speech Coel said:
Anyone who looks a bit like me, or feels like they don’t fit in, you are beautiful, embrace it, you are intelligent, embrace it, you are powerful, embrace it,’
Earlier this year Coel won the Breakthrough Talent award at the BAFTA TV Craft awards, for her work on Chewing Gum.
To those who publicly put down Michaela before her well deserved success … EAT DIRT!

Gwan Ms Coel, and now that this show has won a BAFTA maybe Channel 4 will throw a ton of money at her so she can take Chewing Gum Series 2 to another level….and put it on Channel 4 rather than More 4.
