Idris Elba won the ‘Best Actor’ award at last night’s Evening Standard British Film Awards, for his portrayal of a warlord in the made-for-Netflix drama, Beasts of No Nation.
Elba, 43, beat Michael Fassbender, nominated for the title roles in both Steve Jobs and Macbeth, and Tom Courtenay, up for 45 Years. Elba also won best supporting actor last month for his performance in Beasts of No Nation at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, and received a Golden Globe nomination.
