Lady Chann, Zak Cheney-Rice and Jay debate the influence of legendary rap group NWA.
[Thanks Melissa]
How does BBC Newsnight manage to get it OH SO WRONG when choosing guests to discuss black issues?
This debate just made me roll my eyes. Lady Chann clearly lacks knowledge when it comes to the issue of police brutality in the UK and the MANY black deaths that have happened and continue to happen while in police custody.
Interrupting American music journalist Zak Cheney-Rice mid sentence while he addressed the subject matter of police brutality with, “that’s mainly happening over there, that’s mainly happening where you are”, was just embarrassing and so misinformed.
Zak please don’t think we are all this CLUELESS in the UK.
Anyway, I am still trying to figure out why Newsnight producers thought Lady Chann and Jay were an appropriate choice to speak on NWA and the legacy they left behind. How old were they when NWA hit the music landscape? Are Jay and Lady Chann even old enough to remember how the group’s sound and approach to Hip Hop went on to shape what would come later? Do they even know THIS?
Hahaha.

Your thoughts please…

SMH – why why why??
What bright spark selected Lady Chann to debate this topic? It was just embarrassing, as she is clearly clueless. Could the BBC not afford to hire Akala? Or did they purposely select these 2 to purposely cause embarrassment to the UK black community? I was watching through my fingers and shaking my head simultaneously.
I am still shaking my head.
Oh dear!
I don’t know how a black person can be so utterly clueless when it comes to the our history with the police in this country. And they obviously don’t know what much about NWA. Newsnight take the piss.
Wow… That was horribly unwatchable.
