August 1 is marked annually as Emancipation Day, when the British government launched an act of parliament to free slaves across its colonized lands in 1834. But members of the Pan-African movement in the UK see it as the continuation of the struggle to get Britain to pay for the damages and the cost of slavery to the modern day offsprings of slaves in Britain and across the Diaspora.
