Tyrese George has his heart set on attending the prestigious public school ever since watching a programme about it on CBeebies a couple of years ago and when a chance came for an interview he didn’t hesitate to show what he could do.
And that included a taste of the keen rapper’s musical side.
“He went to Eton at the end of May to sit lots of exams and have interviews,” said Linda Bradley, head teacher of Byker Primary School where Tyrese is in year six. “He’s a rapper so he did some of that as well!”
The school and Tyrese’s delighted parents have just heard that he has been successful in securing a full scholarship to the boys’ school near Windsor where he is due to take up a place as a boarder when he is 13.
“He couldn’t go without that,” said Linda. “It’s about £36,000, around £12,000 a term.”
Tyrese’s conditional place in 2017 will see him follow in the footsteps of past pupils Prince William, prime minister David Cameron and adventurer Bear Grylls. Continue Reading….
I wish the media would stop focusing on the fact that he likes to rap (it’s a hobby) and that he is good at sports. I see what you are doing here especially you Daily Mail. Just stop!
Tyrese won his place at Eton because he is an academically gifted child. There should be less talk about his “rapping skills” and more talk about his outstanding academic achievements so far.
His mother Tammy says,
‘I will not worry about Tyrese when he is at Eton, as he very adaptable. I know he will fit in and be fine.’
I hope so too Tammy.
Congratulations Tyrese and good luck.
