The surviving members of my favourite 90s R&B group TLC have announced plans to record their fifth and final album. Their last album ‘3D’ was released in 2002 just after the untimely death of founding member Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes.
The Guardian reports that T-Boz (Tionne Watkins) and Chilli (Rozanda Thomas) plan to fund their new album via a campaign on Kickstarter, and have announced fan offers for any prospective contributors. Pledges start at $5 for an exclusive remix, and go up to $7,500, including a PDF list of their favourite songs, a voicemail from the pair, a date at the cinema and a “TLC slumber party” with T-Boz.
The duo say that crowdfunding the album will enable them to “have complete creative control. The only people we’ll be talking to and asking their opinion is the fans.”

This is an interesting move. I look forward to listening to the album.
