Police are searching for a nine-year-old boy who has gone missing from Tottenham. Given his age, officers say they’re growing increasingly concerned for the wellbeing of Daequan George.

Daequan was last seen at a playground in Stamford Close in Tottenham at around 8pm on Thursday night. He is described as:

  • Black, 4ft 8ins tall
  • Medium build with short black hair
  • Wearing yellow or rust-coloured jeans, a black zip-up hooded top with leather patches
  • A purple and yellow hat and black Nike trainers which have a green ‘Nike tick’ on the tongue

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101.

I hope Daequan is found safe and unharmed, but I have a question…

Why was a 9-year-old hanging around a playground unsupervised at 8pm- especially on a school night?

UPDATE: This Is Local London reports that Daequan was found safe and well in the Tottenham area at around 11.30am this morning.

Glad to hear this news but his blasted parents need a good talking to.  This should have never happened in the first place. A 9-year-old should NEVER have been out that late unsupervised.

  1. I echo that Janice and hope he is found safe and sound. But I have a fear he hasn’t just wandered off somewhere as he would probably be found by now and that someone might have taken him.

And I totally agree 8pm for a 9 year old playing unsupervised is unacceptable, or any time for that matter. 8pm is 8pm whether it’s light outside in the middle of May or dark in October. At that time he should be in bed or close to going to bed.Too many parents think it will never happen in their neighbourhood or to them and let their children roam freely. Then when something like this happens, we’re not allowed to speak on it as we’re being judgemental.

  2. I still fail to understand as to why SOME parent/parents cannot and will not supervised their kids in today’s society, same question as everyone asked, what was he doing in playing field at that time of the evening ? Parents should keep on eye on their kids as much as possible, it is your responsibility to protect your kids and if you fail in doing so then the consequences can be quite profound. I am hoping he will reunite with his parents.

  3. I concur.Ultimately I am happy he was found safe and well. But his parents or whoever was looking after him need a boot up the backside! Unsupervised at that time of day, outdoors?? 8pm is 8pm, whether summer or winter!
