The Voice reports that actor Idris Elba will appear as a judge on a new Sky 1 talent show titled Launching People.
The purpose of the show is to ‘turn people’s dreams of making films, music, food and other passions into reality’.
When asked about the project Idris said:
I want to find a person to tell a story and inspire others. They might have an idea that they’re not quite sure how to take to the next level. If I represent anything, it’s someone who dreamed big and achieved those dreams.
If anyone out there has a similar aspiration, then I want to hear from them.”
Launching People will air this spring.

This country kills me. Back in the day these British TV/film big wigs who are now buzzing around Idris like flies were reluctant to aid his career here, so he packed up and moved to America where he eventually became a huge star.
Now these same lame bigwigs are all fawning over him and giving him anything he wants. I cannot help but cackle.
Unlike Lenny Henry who wants to stop black British talent from fleeing these shores, I would advise them to pack up and head for America if /when the opportunity presents itself.

i knew someone who trained in the uk but does bulk work in qatar dubai etc as a news anchor and broadcast journalist / publisher. such offers never came to full effect n the uk
Well I hope he help other blacks in the contest. I’m surprised… I would think this job would be for those with no so good careers. They must be paying him a lot of money.
In my opinion, the problem with Britain for a long time is that these producers/executives knew that it was easier to promote soap stars, actors that are always on the front pages for foolishness or reality stars because they know that the majority of people will respond to that. People in Britain on the whole don’t fully support new actors with pure talent until America tells us they are good and that is white actors alone so you can imagine how it is for black actors.
Fair play to Lenny Henry and others who are trying to improve things but England looks to fame over talent and i cannot see that changing. Adrian Lester and David Oyelowo are just 2 of many who are proof of this.
