Shadow and Act reports that award-winning director Steve McQueen is planning to make a BBC drama on the black experience in Britain, from 1968 to 2014.
McQueen says the series will be “epic in scope,” and will chronicle the lives of a group of friends and their families from 1968 to 2014.
He added:
“I don’t think there has been a serious drama series in Britain with black people from all walks of life as the main protagonists.“
…
But Steve what about the Channel 4 drama Top Boy???
*sarcasm*
If McQueen is behind this project then you know there will be no sugar-coating and watering down of the black experience in Britain.
This is going to be deep.
