i wonder if oprah ever reconsiders her actions towards toni braxton..she effectively crashed her career on the show by being biased against toni…. my only point is oprah is not always fair ad positive towards her fellow peers….. despite her image
…. http://diaryofahollywoodstreetking.com/toni-braxton-blames-oprah-for-failed-singing-career/
I don’t think Oprah’s interview back in 1998 with Toni had anything to do with her music career later going down hill. Even after the interview Toni was still popular and had a hit album in 2000/2001. Then some years after that she had problems with her label, music dried up etc, personal problems and then she had to declare herself bankrupt again – TWICE. So Oprah quizzed her on her spending habits so what? That interview had nothing to do with where her career is now.
Toni blaming Oprah is just ridiculous and so is that article.
If Toni is looking to blame someone then she should talk to Clive Davis/LA Reid and then give herself a good talking to.
check your dates… toni went on the show at the same time when it was happening… and oprah threw her under the bus .. with a very biased interview… it wasn’t afterwards… … she doesn’t just blame oprah… but due to oprahs interview was the first at that time to suggest that toni had only herself to blame.. which wasn’t totally true
http://diaryofahollywoodstreetking.com/oprah-threw-toni-braxton-under-the-bus-for-l-a-reid/ toni doesn’t blame oprah for the total downfall but that interview contributed to the eventual downward escalation…. oprah aint no saint…. she can be as bitchy as any of us….
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDWPN11a3rA baby face words
the interview… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftLjr4CQcrQ oprah was subtle but despite toni explaining how she came to that situation was unrelenting in bringing the blame back on her…. the self financing thing i personally understand as an artist… oprah never once admitted that her deal might be unfair…. as it was with TLC ALSO
No one said Oprah was a saint also Toni first filed for bankruptcy in 1998 and the interview took place in the same year. I still don’t agree that Toni’s music career suffering years later had anything to do with Oprah’s line of questioning. Toni just lacked good money management skills which became more and more obvious years after this interview aired.
The idea that the interview contributed to the eventual downward escalation of Toni’s career is ridiculous. And what difference would it have made if Oprah had brought up Toni’s contract with Arista Records?
Oprah was doing her job and I fail to see the problem with this interview. Toni who made these comments about Oprah in a 2012 interview needs to take responsibility for her own actions and decisions.
Okay random….
not so random.. minx…. lol
Le Braxton , TLC and others…who or what do you (Benedict Chujioke) think they have in common? The answer aint Oprah. Toni Braxton has not proven herself to be “on point” as to her business acumen, despite it happening again and again. As for Oprah, she may be a hot mess sometimes and her grovelling to Jay Z sickens me, but she has NEVER been about the “round the way” black stars. Oprah never crashed Toni Braxton’s career. Toni Braxton needs to ask herself why she seems incapable of balancing a check and doing a budget. Basic house husbandry, once you reach thirty with at least ten years of trial and error behind you, is easy. Non self accountability and “reaching” for pity is a trait that has manifested itself in too many black women and men post 2000. Toni Braxton need to stop spend weh shi nuh mek!
Cosign Sparkle.
And didn’t she file for bankruptcy again not so long ago? Is Oprah to blame for that? Ridiculous.
@Ben you clearly haven’t been following Toni’s story throughout the years when it comes to her financial issues and spending habits.
I think Ty is trolling…
If Oprah respects you, she will interview you differently.
LOL
A clueless troll.
Informative article, just what I was looking
for.
