A man and woman in their 60s have been arrested after police freed three ‘highly traumatised’ women thought to have spent the last three decades imprisoned in a south London house.
The arrested pair, both 67, were detained at their house following an investigation into slavery and domestic servitude after a call to police from the Freedom Charity.
It is thought one of the three women held captive contacted the charity, which supports women forced to marry against their will and victims of honour-based violence, after seeing a TV documentary about forced marriages in the summer.
The women, a 69-year-old Malaysian woman, a 57-year-old Irish woman, and a 30-year-old British woman, have been taken to a place of safety after their rescue this morning. Continue Reading….
