JUMP OFF TV UK DEBATE: COULD THERE EVER BE AN “URBAN” GLASTONBURY?

festival

The topic on whether or not there could EVER be a Glastonbury type festival here in the UK dedicated solely to black music starts at mark [08.33] when DJ Chuckie asks if “there could ever be a black festival”, and then host Mim quickly jumps in and STRESSES the word “URBAN”.

Yeah…I see what you did there. Hahahahahaha.

Anyway check out the debate below.

Trust me when I say this… the powers that be will only green light an “URBAN” Glastonbury festival if the headliners are:

Professor Green, Devlin, English Frank, Mic Righteous, Jessie J, Rita Ora and Justin Timberlake with BBC 1xtra DJ Charlie Sloth spinning on the ones and twos.

If you are deemed a non threatening and “safe” act like Rizzle Kicks then you might be lucky enough to be awarded with a 30 minute set and then get the opportunity to watch the headliners from the wings.

Everyone else will be relegated to backing singer and hype man duties.

  1. Jeez, some people are really uncomfortable with the word “Black”. It’s like he’s saying, “what you really meant to say Chuckie, is “URBAN”, so lets discuss that”.

  2. That’s why I hate this multicultural lark in Britain. All it means is “dilute your culture, call yourselves anything other than black, acknowledge that there is no such thing as “black” music and carry on……” The racism doesn’t burn me so much as the shucking and jiving of the black people in the industry over here. Mind you when black people are afraid to use the word “black” in everyday road conversation, you know that we are slipping over here……
That’s why, for me, Britain will always be the most racist country in the world… it’s like sexual abuse, hidden in plain sight with nobody wanting to see it and those who call it out being called “liars’.
