Kwame Harris

Kwame Harris

Earlier this year it was revealed that former NFL player Kwame Harris was gay after an altercation with a former boyfriend made the headlines.

Now Harris talks to CNN about life in the NFL and being gay.

When questioned about gay men in the NFL San Francisco 49ers player Chris Culliver said:

“I don’t do the gay guys man. don’t do that. No, we don’t got no gay people on the team, they gotta get up out of here if they do. Can’t be with that sweet stuff. Nah…can’t be…in the locker room man. Nah.”

He later apologised and  visited with an LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) support group.

I just shook my head when I read that Culliver (along with 49ers management) visited the support group. You can just smell the fakeness. In my opinion this was clearly a PR move and not genuine at all.

  1. Hardly any real black men left in this world anymore, either they are chicken neck, slack jawed emotional effeminates or they are homosexuals, most of whom are on the down low. Black men in the west on the whole are in a real deep crisis.

  2. I’m in my forties, single ( after a long term relationship) since last July and quite frankly, wary of putting my toes back into the “couples’ world. Men, in general in the West are acting confused. Since we black people tend to be follow fashion, no other set of men have been picking and choosing their confusion with a swiftness and feyness that any woman claiming to check for testosterone would run away from. The openly gay black men are probably the manliest of black men, right now. I may not appreciate the “swishiness” of some, but to be openly gay in the world is the opposite of “emotional effeminacy”. That brings me to the next thing. Women, especially black women need to be asking prospective, hook ups, partners, long term man, the “are you bisexual, trisexual?” question. My old ass has seen too much down lowism that is being passed of as “new wave shit”. The younger generation, especially is mistaking discernment for prejudice. Be bisexual all you want. Don’t kid yourself (male bisexuals) that women really want that thing to go there and come back here. You all know what I mean. Call it prejudice all you want. I will holla back “disingenuous, much?”

  3. His reaction at first is understandable. He and many others probably joined in in the banter that took place in the locker room and acted straight. I am sure there might be others. But going to the LGBT organization with management was kinda false. He could have done it by himself on his own merit. I don’t blame him for self hating himself at first when every body around hated what he secretly was. You gotta act and put on that mask until you don’t see the point. Every time the footballers throw random shots at gay folks, he caught the bullets directly and I bet it hurt. I guess the banter in the locker room will now take a different form or stop.

  4. Oh he is former NFL player. The banter will continue. Thanks to the fight, he was dragged out the closet, like tiger woods was exposed with his multiple affairs after the fight with his wife.

The moral of the story, domestic violence is not good for your secrets. 😀
