South African athlete Oscar Pistorius, who faces murder charges over the fatal shooting of his girlfriend, has been granted bail after a four-day hearing.
Magistrate Desmond Nair said the state had not made a case that he would flee, or that he had a violent character.
The Paralympic champion denies murder, saying he shot Reeva Steenkamp thinking she was an intruder at his home.
The next hearing in the case has been set for 4 June. Bail was set at 1m rand (£74,000; $113,000).
He was ordered to hand over his passport, avoid his home in Pretoria and report to a police station between 07:00 and 13:00 every Monday and Friday. Continue Reading….

After Pistorius’ defence team destroyed the credibility of the now former lead detective (Hilton Botha) on the case and it was also revealed that Botha faces allegations of attempted murder, it was over for the prosecution team.

I really do think that this psychopath will get off. We are living in the times of unaccountability and narcissism. Just like the John Terry trial, we are expected to suspend belief and really accept that this man never intended to kill his girlfriend! Enough people are so dry and boring that they really do think that people “off the telly” are role models. I’m not only talking about children, either. I lost offa this bwoy when he accused the brazilian athlete of cheating. The mask slipped. Sorry to sound cold, but I’m not going to feel more sorry for you because you are disabled. Is that not what the disabled want…. equality, not pity? This man needs to go to the South African equivalent of Broadmoor. He’s bright and facety to be putting Reeva’s family through so much agony. Man get ketch bang to rights and still don’t want to confess. Sorry to rant, but the “blacks are killing us, we have every right to be so paranoid that our beloveds can’t even cut one piss a night time just in case we get paro and shoot them dead, dead, dead” excuse that too many believe, is jarring me.
It took the judge two bloody hours, I kept refreshing my phone at the library then hissed & made a bunch of people laugh from my antics. Like my Dad said, thank God it was a white woman, ok the might say its hearsay – getting my legal speak on, since I wasn’t even in the same country. Anyhoo, all hail the new OJ, till whenever he decides to steal his own memorabilia…
